TY - JOUR AB - The starting point of the work in hand is the economic historian's interest in the question of the relation of theoretical economicā€political concepts to economic, social and political developments within society. In this regard it is interesting to look at Gustav Schmoller's economicā€political theories developed in the face of industrialisation in Germany and the foundation of the German Nation State, particularly seen from the point of view of commercial and trade policy. Schmoller's theory of economic policy is based on the actual economic, social and political developments of his time. These theories were of a programmatic nature and often resulted in concrete demands.
