Abstract

Considerable effort has been made in estimating the economic return to various kinds of preventive exercise in the human resources field. The return to prevention or control of selected diseases has been estimated, as has the return to investment in birth control. Attempts have also been made to assess the pay‐off from programmes designed to prevent homelessness, extended redundancy, crime, and criminal recidivism.
