AB  - Developments within the British regional library system in the year April 1975 to March 1976 are reviewed. A scheme for the collection of statistics has been tested under the auspices of the National Committee on Regional Library Co‐operation. Several regions have been converting parts of their union catalogues retrospectively into machine‐readable form. Local transport schemes for interlibrary loans are much in evidence, one of the most significant being a pilot project which links libraries in the North West with the BLLD. Subject specialisation schemes continue in the South West, Wales and the South East. Investigation into the West Midlands Service and into the use made of the General Pool Stock (GPS) at Wakefield (formerly the Central Reserve Stock of the West Riding County Library) are discussed, and several projects being carried out by LASER with a view to increasing availability of material in the South East are mentioned. The statistical table shows that compared with 1974/75 internal use of the regions dropped slightly but that use from outside (much of it by the BLLD) increased substantially.
