Abstract

Industrial machine vision gained a reputation in the 1980s for being expensive and unreliable. Martin Coulthard of Surface Inspection Ltd discusses how its reputation might be restored by creating effective solutions for the “right” applications, and illustrates this by describing the implementation of an automatic tile inspection system.
