EDI: THE BANDWAGON STARTS TO ROLL

Abstract

Electronic data interchange (EDI), the computer‐based transmission of data between business centres, will probably determine the future of logistics more than any other single factor factor. Stephen McClelland reports on its operation, the most likely directions it will take in the future, and the various initiatives already in existence in business, manufacturing and financial institutions around the world, and concludes that the way ahead lies with EDI.
