Abstract

Many people say that their productivity at work is affected by their office environment. People think that their offices make them perform less well. The data here show that over 70 per cent of respondents in each of the six study buildings believed that their productivity was adversely affected. The results are for self‐assessments. Performance is not measured directly because it is impossible to assess it across the broad spectrum of all office work. Other results encourage the belief that office productivity is at least partly building‐related.
