Abstract

Summary The provision of adequate sound insulation against both internal and external noise is an important aspect of noise control in buildings. This paper describes the basic principles involved in designing buildings to achieve good sound insulation. Some of the practical ways of ensuring that walls and floors meet their full sound insulation potential are also considered.
