Advanced assembly as a step towards CIM

Abstract

IBM is both a user and a vendor of robotic assembly systems. Whilst the major investment on its own manufacture has gone into the USA several European plants are now using advanced assembly systems. Bordeaux in France and Greenock in Scotland are two of these.
