TY - JOUR AB - It is a recently‐developed view that companies have a responsibility to integrate with the local community and to contribute to it in a wide variety of ways. Here are examples of how companies are interpreting this responsibility and how they are adapting their personnel and training policies to meet it Finance For Industry became involved with the work of the Action Resource Centre last year when the concept of social responsibility could be fairly said to have arrived in the business community. ARC was born in 1973 to act largely as a clearing house to match the resources of business with the needs of the community. It has relied for it's own staff largely upon committed secondees from large British and multi national companies and it must be admitted that their individual enthusiasm and skill did much to attract FFI in the first place.
