This, as the title states, is the updated version of the first text which was published in 1995.

The history starts back in 1524 with a record from the log of the Italian adventurer Giovanni da Verrazano who arrived off the North Carolina shore in the face of a hurricane. The record then works its way through to 1997 with, sometimes quite detailed, accounts of the major hurricane events.

The book is very well researched and extremely well illustrated with photographs, diagrams and maps where appropriate.

It is well sectioned which makes it easy to read and the author has a nice writing style which makes the book easy to read without becoming too repetitive.

This is a gold mine of information and many researchers will be eternally grateful to the author for the painstaking work that has gone into the topic.
