This is another excellent publication from the stable of Intermediate Publications, and what a book! This book combines best practice with a wealth of case study material to show that best practice can really make the difference in the wake of a disaster.

The book is essentially in two parts the first of which goes into best practice and how it can be developed and delivered, whilst the second part looks at a wide range of case studies involving these practices.

The book has in‐depth analysis and cameos with regard to NGOs and how they can work with local people in the aftermath of a disaster and as such it contains a wealth of practical information on a scale that I have seldom seen in a textbook.

This book (now re‐printed) is essential reading for NGO workers and aid workers anywhere in the world.
