Purpose – advises on how organizations can use psychometrics to recruit and develop employees. Design/methodology/approach – quotes the example of Nottingham City Transport to illustrate how organizations can use psychometrics in candidate assessment and in pinpointing training needs. Also discusses the use of psychometrics in teambuilding and for assessing the success of leadership training. Findings – underlines the value of psychometric testing for improving the effectiveness of recruitment and training, and for linking individual and team development. Originality/value – reviews how psychometric testing can be used in practice.ISSN: 1465-6523
