IPC have launched a Web site dedicated to GenCAMSM, the industry standard for printed board data transfer.

The Web site, found at www.gencamorg is a one-stop source for information on the format, including CAD and CAM suppliers, accuracy checkers, and the standard itself.

GenCAM is an intelligent format that integrates all the data necessary to manufacture a printed board or assembly. It incorporates tooling, manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and testing requirements into a single file.

"The new Web site provides easy access to the latest information on GenCAM", says IPC director of technology transfer, Dieter Bergman, "including a list of those suppliers that are offering the format as part of their suite of software".

To help manufacturers make the switch to GenCAM, a number of files are available for free download from the site. Among them: the IPC-2510 series of standards (which describe the GenCAM specification), and the Compliance Test Module, a software program that verifies syntax and semantics.

The site will also contain Power Point presentations on using GenCAM, technical articles explaining its use, and will serve as a link among tool developers users, and the IPC committees developing the standard.

For more information on GenCAM, contact Dieter Bergman at (847) 790-5339, or E-mail DieterBergman@ipc.org
