Flextronic, the UK's leading manufacturer of flexible printed circuits, has announced its new Fastrack Special Projects design and development service devised for engineers requiring sample quantities for development or pre-production. The Fastrack service is designed to deliver development quantities of production-quality single-sided, double-sided, sculptured and multilayer circuits, some as quickly as three-days, with complex circuits produced in less than ten working days.
Alan Tabb, manager of Fastrack Special Projects, has been appointed to head the new team of four Fastrack Special Project engineers. "We've established the Fastrack service to meet the growing demand for prototypes of flexible circuits", said Tabb. "We can meet this demand with speed of response coupled with direct liaison by our dedicated team of Fastrack Special Project engineers. These engineers work closely with the customer's own team to assist in developing the most cost-effective flexible circuit design."
The new team has direct responsibility for managing the project at every stage, from customer visits, through the CAD process, production line scheduling, quality control, through to delivery of the prototypes. This "project ownership" provides total control through the whole process to enable the fastest possible turnaround with production-type prototypes.
Flextronic Limited, which has two manufacturing facilities in Chichester, West Sussex, UK, was established in the mid-1950s and has been manufacturing flexible circuits since 1972. It is the UK's largest manufacturer of flexible circuits and exports approximately 35 per cent of its production world-wide. The company holds ISO 9001, BS EN 123000, BS 9760 and MIL-P-50884C types 1, 2, 3 and 4 approvals. In addition, Flextronic is in the process of acquiring QS 9000 registration.
