The IPC has released the US printed wiring board industry book-to-bill ratio for August 1998 (Figure 1). The Book-to-Bill ratio for August 1998 was 1.09.

Sales billed (shipments) in August 1998, increased 8.3 per cent over August 1997 and orders booked for August 1998 showed an increase of 18.2 per cent over August 1997.

Compared to 1997, 1998 bookings of PWBs are down 1.7 per cent year-to-date, while 1998 shipments of PWBs are up 3.6 per cent year-to-date.

The information provided includes data for both rigid and flexible PWB manufacturers that participate in IPC's monthly statistical programme. These participants represent more than 40 per cent of the US domestic printed wiring board market.
