Note from the publisher

Article Type: Note from the publisher From: Competitiveness Review: An International Business Journal, Volume 18, Issue 1/2.

Business and management studies have more students, and probably more practitioners, than any other field. That is hardly surprising. Management and its disciplines impacts on all our lives: governments, public services, multinational corporations, one-person enterprises, charities, armies all need to be managed. Management research informs management study and management practice, and with more than 40 years in the field, Emerald Group Publishing Limited has grown to be the world's leading publisher of management research.

Much of our work over the years has been in helping researchers communicate with one another. This is an important role which all publishers fulfil, and it will continue. But as well as this, we are committed to bringing rigorous, relevant research to those who need to use it to manage better and more wisely: managers of corporations large and small, managers of public services, those who govern and administer, those who lead and innovate.

With that in mind, Emerald is very pleased to continue as publisher of Competitiveness Review, having acquired the journal in November 2006. We have had a successful first year in collaboration with the editorial team at Indiana, and we at Emerald feel the journal will continue to grow and develop as a key resource for both management professionals and academics in the management community. And for that, we need your help: please look out for us at the major management and international business conferences in 2008, please continue to submit your papers to regular and special issues, and if you like what you read (and we are sure you will), please mention us to others. Guidelines for paper submissions are on our web site: www.emeraldinsight.com/cr.htm
