Competitiveness Review: An International Business Journal changes publisher

Since, the last issue of Competitiveness Review: An International Business Journal various changes have taken place. In November, the journal and the Journal of Global Competitiveness were acquired by Emerald Group Publishing Limited, a leading English language publisher of academic and professional literature in the fields of management. Emerald has made a strategic decision to merge the Journal of Global Competitiveness into Competitiveness Review to combine the strengths of the two titles.

Founded in 1967, Emerald publishes over 190 journals, and supplies its international titles to university libraries and public and private sector organizations worldwide. The online Emerald collection of all current titles plus a digital archive of some 60,000 papers, is held in over 1,600 business schools and university libraries.

Emerald titles in business and management include European Journal of Marketing; Personnel Review; Management Decision; European Business Review; Journal of Organizational Change Management; Leadership and Organization Development Journal; Internet Research; Journal of Operations and Production Management and Journal of Knowledge Management.

Emerald's philosophy of “theory and practice” should strike a chord with anyone familiar with Competitiveness Review and it is because of this meeting of minds that we at Emerald feel the journal will continue to grow and develop as a key resource for both management professionals and academics in the management community.

This double issue demonstrates the commitment to theory and practice, with ten very worthy papers.

Todd Dewitt and Nathan Whittier provide a framework for understanding post adoption innovation implementation.

Scott David Williams and Nathan Whittier examine the competitive balance implications for hospitals who are participating in networks of electronic health records.

G. Scott Erickson and Eileen Kelly analyse the legal and ethical standing of the most promising business applications of radio frequency identification tags.

In their paper, Shavin Malhotra and Nisha Malhotra look at investing in an emerging market with emphasis on the US firms investing in India.

Syed Shah Alam, Ali Khatibi, A. S. Santhapparaj and Mohammad Talha examine the development prospects of internet banking in Bangaldesh.

Mark Fincher provides an analysis of the case for governmental support of higher education access to further national competitiveness.

A.N.M Waheeduzzaman investigates the States, demographics and competitiveness of the USA's best universities using the US News and World Report, Demographics USA.

In their paper, Milton Mayfield, Jacqueline Mayfield and David Stephens examine the relationship of generic strategy typing and organizational longevity with an analysis of the comic book industry.

William D. Schulte and Young K. Kim compare collectivism and the expected benefits of knowledge management from a Taiwanese and the US perspective.

Finally, Satish Deshpande and Jennifer Palthe examine union elections conducted by the national labour relations board in warehouse and storage facilities in the USA.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new publisher for the Competitiveness Review and say how much I am looking forward to working with you in the future.
