Special issue on Governance
Article Type: Call for papers From: Chinese Management Studies, Volume 3, Issue 3
Call for papers for Social Enterprise JournalThis special issue of the Social Enterprise Journal focuses on the issues surrounding social enterprise governance. Amidst a climate of global economic insecurity, social enterprises have many opportunities to engage with communities and defined stakeholder groups, as well as numerous challenges and complications caused by the financial meltdown. The groundswell of interest and support for social enterprises is also global in its breadth, and academics and practitioners are encouraged to engage in research and social enterprise development. The social enterprise board will play a pivotal role in managing the organisation during these difficult times, so it is timely that this special issue invites the submission of papers in, but not limited to, the following suggested areas:
"Critical'' perspectives on social enterprise governance.
Alternative models of board-level governance in SEs.
The role of SE boards in public sector engagement and procurement.
Trustees and non-executive directors enhancing accountability on SE boards.
Managing and measuring the governance ``effectiveness'' process.
The challenges of SE governance in international contexts and legal forms.
Comparative research on SE governance in different SE forms.
The Community Interest Company, its influence on the board and stakeholder relations.
Challenges related to board-member recruitment and board composition.
Managing the conflict in the ``blended mission'' of social and profit orientation.
Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. Submissions are to be no longer than 5,000 words, and will be double-blind peer reviewed.
All papers must conform with the journal requirements; details of the Author Guidelines can be found on the Emerald web site: www.emeraldinsight.com/sej.htm Deadline for full submission is 6 November 2009
