This review investigated whether calcium supplements increase the risk of cardiovascular events. The authors concluded that calcium supplements (without co-administered vitamin D) were associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction. Overall, the authors’ conclusions reflected the evidence presented and are likely to be reliable.
