A message from the Editor-in-Chief

Article Type: Foreword From: Cross Cultural Management: An International Journal, Volume 18, Issue 1

Our journal has existed now for nearly 18 years. The year 2010 was a special year for the journal with Thomson-Reuters granting us status as an ISI journal. This was the culmination of the hard work of the five global associate editors, the two senior editorial assistants, the fantastic support of an active Editorial Board, consciences reviewers and many excellent guest editors who have accepted my invitation to prepare and process special issues. Statistics provided by Emerald show that we are approaching 100,000 downloads, with some of the papers published in Cross Cultural Management: An International Journal (CCM) receiving global and widespread citation. Scholars who have published in CCM should be very content and we hope that they share our pride and satisfaction.

Normally, I use the discretion given to me by the publisher to prepare a short summary of what I sense to be the upcoming trends in CCM. This year, I have decided to invite Geert Hosfstede and his colleagues to reflect on their pioneering work in the field that has spread over 40 years. We are grateful that they have accepted the invitation and you will hereafter find a reflection on the Hofstede doctrine, prepared by Minkov with Hofstede. This first issue in 2011 also includes a noteworthy special issue prepared by a group of extraordinary Viennese scholars on “Knowledge migration, communication and value change”.

With CCM becoming an ISI journal, we are beginning to feel the significant increase in submissions. All members of the editorial team are committed to serve the readers and the community of cross-cultural scholars by increasing the rigor and quality of the accepted manuscripts while at the same time respecting the objective of completing the review process within a three-month period. As we continually seek to increase our quality and relevance to the research community, we invite readers to share with the editorial team their comments and desires and we will do our utmost to satisfy them.

We wish you a 2011 full of happiness and scholarship, and hope that you will continue to support our efforts.

Sincerely,

Simon L. DolanEditor-in-Chief, ESADE Business School, Barcelona, Spain
