The average salary for librarians increased 3.31 percent from April 1997 to April 1998. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics in the June 1998 Monthly Labor Review, this is a much lower percentage than the increase for comparable occupations. In the Occupation and Industry group (private industry and state and local government), civilian workers received an average of 3.7 percent increase over last year.
