Insights into the sustainable growth of the business

Article Type: Call for papers From: Baltic Journal of Management, Volume 4, Issue 2

ISM University of Management and Economics, in cooperation with BMDA and BI Norwegian School of Management, is organizing the International Scientific Conference: " Insights into the sustainable growth of the business"The event will take place at ISM University of Management and Economics, Vilnius, Lithuania, 19-21 November 2009.

Background and purpose

All processes that are known in the world demonstrate life-cycles. Economy as well as business is no exception. However, the aim of each business is to sustain growth or to revert to the growth curve after a decline as quickly as possible.

The main research question that the Conference seeks to answer is - How to stimulate sustainable growth in the business?

The aim of the Conference is to share the research results and discuss the external environment and organizational development factors that might influence the sustainable growth of the business.

The Conference aim is embedded in four main themes: the role of expectations in economics dynamics; mastering growth strategy and marketing innovations; enterprise growth and project management; and responsible human resource management and culture.

The logic of the Conference structure rests on the assumption that there is a great deal of subjectivity in external environment fluctuations, e.g. a financial crisis might be sparked by drawing misconceptions from the population that result in a mass withdrawal of savings from the banks. However, if we are aware of possible scenarios and are able to decide on the relevant growth strategy as well as innovate marketing solutions we can manage risk. No less important are organizational development factors that rest on the effectiveness of the operations and project management as well as responsible human resource management and culture development.

We hope that collective sharing of the research results of the Conference participants on the discussed themes will bring about fulfilment of the Conference aims and answer the research questions.
