New tape drive from Singapore

Singapore-based company Tanberg Data has released a 12/24Gb SLR6 tape drive. They say it offers transfer rates of up to 8.6Gb per hour, or 2.4Mb per second, with a 2:1 data compression. It features a fast and wide 16-bit SCSI interface, and is available as a bare drive, a drive kit, and as a complete tape storage management system including tape drive, cabling, data cartridge, cleaning cartridge, and software for all standard operating systems.
