Review of Internet service providers and pornography in New Zealand

The Law Society (of New Zealand) has commissioned a lawyer to write a code of practice for Internet access companies to cover the dissemination of pornography. Denise Ritchie, who as well as being a solicitor is also Chair of the End Child Pornography New Zealand lobby group, has been contracted part-time to look at possible schemes to limit the spread of pornography. Most Internet providers accept the code of practice of the Internet Society of New Zealand, but this does not cover what types of content Internet companies will allow subscribers to display on their Web sites. Ms Ritchie may suggest a strengthening of the code.
