National Library of New Zealand and LIDDAS

The National Library of New Zealand has signalled its interest in joining the Local Interlending and Document Delivery Administration System (LIDDAS) Consortium, with representatives from the library attending the first meeting of the consortium, held on 30 April 1998, in Sydney. Fretwell Downing Informatics will provide the National Library of New Zealand with a software system, OLIB VDX, to support interlibrary loans and electronic document delivery as part of the Library's new systems project.

The initial participants in the LIDDAS consortium are a group of Australian libraries who are also implementing the system. These include Macquarie University, Griffith University, University of Technology Sydney, University of Southern Queensland and the Australian Catholic University. Both the State Library of New South Wales and the National Library of Australia are also joining the consortium.

LIDDAS operates under an agreement between the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee (AVCC) and Fretwell-Downing Informatics, and functions as a user group for the Fretwell-Downing product. Membership of the LIDDAs consortium would further enhance the National Library of New Zealand's links with other libraries in its region, and contribute to its influence in the ongoing development of the Fretwell-Downing product.

Further background information to the LIDDAS project is available at the Griffith University Web site: http://www.gu.edu.au/alib/iii/docdel/cilla/cill9801.htm
