Precious metal clad wire meets specific high-rel requirements

Precious metal clad wire meets specific high-rel requirements Metallurgically bonded, precious metal clad wire and ribbon that are stated to be a cost-effective alternative to solid products for manufacturing high- reliability connectors and components for aerospace and electronic applications are available from Anomet Products, Inc. of Shrewsbury, MA, USA.

Anomet precious metal clad wire and ribbon are designed for fabricating micro-switches, connectors, and components used in high-rel applications. To meet specific requirements, they can include platinum for oxidation-, corrosion- resistance, and bio-compatibility; gold for contact resistance, and palladium or silver, each clad to core materials such as copper, Kovar, niobium, nickel-iron, molybdenum, stainless steel, Tantalum, and Titanium.

Claiming greater ductility and formability than filled or plated products, Anomet precious metal clad wire and ribbon are offered 0.05- 3.2mm O.D. and up to 25mm W, respectively; with 2 per cent or more cladding thickness, depending upon the desired properties. They have a smooth finish and are sais to be functionally equal to solid products at typically one- tenth the cost, claims the firm.
