JAA supports the EU list of banned airlines

JAA supports the EU list of banned airlines

Keywords: Aircraft safety, Aircraft industry

The first EU list of airlines which are banned from the European Union was recently published by the European Commission.

This initiative is supported by the JAA as it ensures a coherent approach among the EU Member States in the case of airlines not meeting international safety standards.

The inspections performed under the ECAC SAFA programme (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) are one of the important information sources considered when establishing/ updating the EU list. Since, 1996 Central JAA has been responsible for the executive coordination of the SAFA programme.

Central JAA will continue to support all stakeholders involved in the SAFA Programme (EASA, ECAC and European Commission), until EASA's competencies are extended into this field.
