Meggitt Avionics receives top MOD award

Meggitt Avionics has been honoured with a top UK, Ministry of Defence (MOD) award "The Chief of Defence Logistics Commendation," for its contribution in producing components for the Chinook helicopter oxygen system, within tight operational timescales.

Simon Riddiford, Sales and Marketing Director, Meggitt Avionics was delighted to receive the letter from the MOD's Defence Logistics Organisation informing the company of the honour. The award recognises the company's success in supplying oxygen equipment and systems ahead of schedule.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Malcolm Pledger, Chief of Defence Logistics, expressed his praise and congratulations within the letter and said: "Within an exceptionally short time frame, the team shared immense collective and selfless effort to respond to this immediate operational need, which involved all elements of the support chain. This is an achievement for which you and your team can be justifiably proud."

The Chinook helicopter oxygen system enables the aircraft to operate at high altitudes in support of British Forces throughout the world's mountainous regions, such as Afghanistan, where British Forces have a continuing presence.
