Fascia panels use LED technology to emulate the appearance of incandescent lamps

Keywords Litton VEAM/TEC, Lighting

New from Litton VEAM/TEC is a range of fascia panels that use a combination of white LED technology, optical filters and custom dimming circuitry to emulate the appearance of conventional incandescent lamps.

Primarily designed for retrofit applications in defence and aerospace instrumentation, the new panels (Plate 3) have the same colour and dimming characteristics as surrounding incandescent-based displays while still providing all the benefits of surface-mount LED technology, including lower power consumption, lower operating temperature, longer lifetime and increased reliability.

Stated to be inherently resistant to shock and vibration, the new panels are designed to comply with the requirements of SAE AS7788 (formerly MIL-P-7788F) Type VII, and they are said to incorporate features such as transient protection, redundancy for single LED failure and optional secret-til-lit capability.
