Howmet purchases Komatsu interest in Komatsu-Howmet

Howmet International recently announced that it has purchased the remaining 19 per cent interest owned by Komatsu Ltd in their joint venture company, Komatsu-Howmet, Ltd. Howmet is now the sole owner of that company which is changing its name to "Howmet Japan Limited". The purchase price was not disclosed.

"Howmet Japan Limited produces a wide range of investment castings, from small turbine blades to large industrial gas turbine components", said David L. Squier, Howmet's President and CEO.

"Sales are currently strong in a number of product categories in the Pacific Rim, and Howmet Japan is growing by successfully responding to that demand. Contributions from this business unit are an important element in achieving our Year-2000 growth target."
