Rockwell Collins contract for Pascall

Rockwell Collins contract for Pascall

Keywords: Pascall Electronics, Rockwell Collins

Pascall Electronics, a member of the Inteiek group of companies, announces a multi-million dollar contract from Rockwell Collins.

The contract is for specialist power supplies used in Rockwell Collins' in-flight entertainment (WE) system, TESTM (total entertainment system), deployed in wide-body aircraft world-wide. The contract lasts until February 2001, with first shipments in November of last year. It follows on a series of orders from Rockwell for power supplies. In parallel, Pascall is developing a range of supplies for single-aisle aircraft.

All in-flight entertainment equipment must meet the stringent specifications laid down by Airbus and Boeing. Power supplies must work up to 20 hours a day, endure repeated pressure cycling, travel frequently between different climates and tolerate vibration, while ensuring that 99.5 per cent of all screens are working at the start of a flight and 99 per cent on landing. They must be highly efficient in order to minimise heat generation, achieve high power densities to minimise volume and maintain their quality of output even when changing over from aircraft to ground generators.
