Cut reprogramming costs

Cut reprogramming costs

Keywords: Simulog, Software

French company Simulog has launched Foresys 2.1, software specially designed for applications written in Fortran. This software solution provides valuable support in developing quality assurance and in migration to Fortran 90 and 95. Version 2.1 of Foresys provides new features like a complete analysis of Fortran 90 and Fortran 95. Using static analysis methods enables errors to be detected that could be missed by compilers and link editors, and would be extremely costly to find manually.

Foresys 2.1 reduces revising and reprogramming costs by some 75 per cent, showing up non-initialised variables, incoherence between procedures, and inadequate use of pointers. Foresys 2.1 protects users' investment in applications, enabling automatic conversion of Fortran programs and endowing them with a high degree of maintainability and portability, and preserving future development potential. Foresys 2.1 is thought to be the first tool to use a qualimetric module for Fortran 90. Available as an option, this allows more than 30 measures of application quality to be calculated with an entirely user-determined quality-model.
