Baasel Lasertech (UK) Ltd announces the launch of two new pulsed Nd:YAG lasers for spot and seam welding, the StarWeld 40 and StarWeld 90 (40 watts and 90 watts of average power). These lasers are aimed primarily at manufacturers of precision components in the medical, automotive, aerospace and electronic industries. The laser can be supplied with fibre optic beam delivery and a wide range of standard focus heads is available.

The StarWeld 40 and StarWeld 90 are the latest generation of mobile, compact laser systems from Baasel Lasertech. Both lasers run from a standard 13 amp single phase electrical supply offering maximum flexibility on'location.

Each unit comprises laser source, power supply, cooling unit and controller integrated into a single compact cabinet, occupying minimum floor space (500 x 690mm). The laser beam delivery is via compact focus heads via one or more flexible fibres.

The StarWeld 40 and StarWeld 90 are designed for ease of integration mechanically, electronically and via computer into your existing production line. The StarWeld 40 is air-cooled and can run in an ambient of 30°C. The StarWeld 90 is always water-cooled.

All laser parameters on both machines are adjustable either using a user-friendly control panel or via serial interface. There is automatic self-diagnosis during start-up and operation, which supports the operator with status and error messages.

The StarWeld 40 and StarWeld 90 are capable of welding a variety of metals and metal alloys with minimum heat input and excellent repeatability. Even metals with high thermal conductivity or high melting point can be laser welded due to the small laser-spot diameter. The laser can deliver spot welds or can seam weld at up to 100Hz.
