Airborne digital video cassette recorder

Keywords: Sekai Electronics, Video, Hostile environments

Two years of R&D work backed by rigorous qualification tests of temperature, altitude, acceleration, vibration, shock, explosive atmosphere and EMI have finally paid off in the production-ready Airborne Digital Video Cassette Recorder - the ADVCR(tm)™. Sekai Electronics, specialists in video equipment for avionics and harsh environments, has successfully qualified the ADVCR to Mil-Std-810E.

According to Sekai since its introduction in 1995, DV (for digital video) has established itself as the preferred format for professional video applications due to its performance. Higher resolution, less noise and better color are just a few of the benefits. Creating an extremely small unit with the benefits of digital video, that would stand up to high performance airborne applications and harsh environments, was finally accomplished by Sekai's specialized engineering experience.

A few of the major technological advances claimed by the ADVCR include:

  • No loss of image quality when digitally copying or importing images to a'computer.

  • Firewire (IEEE-1394) interface for video input/output and controlling the deck.

  • Compatible with existing cameras and video sources.

  • Playback can be viewed on any standard mini-DV video deck and standard video monitor.

  • Available in both NTSC and PAL.

  • Extremely compact. The size is: 2.62" H x 5.84" W x 5.85" D (66mm H x 148mm W x 148mm D). The weight is: 3.8 lbs (1.73kg).

  • Drop in replacement to simplify integration into your current system.

  • Discrete or RS-422 remote control Event mark with search function and several types of distinguishable events.
