EMTA Awards Ltd (EAL), a leading awarding body of aviation National Vocational Qualifications, has launched its Web site, www.eal.org.uk The Web site, written in plain English, is intended to educate and inform the wider public about aviation NVQs and the benefits that they can provide to individuals and employers. The latest Internet technology is used to ensure that the site provides information in an interactive and user-friendly way. The site contains a number of sections featuring information about EAL and aviation NVQs, best practice case studies and an electronic newsletter.

The Web site explains who EAL is, lists NVQs ranging from aircraft maintenance to handling air passengers. Unlike many similar Web sites this one devotes an entire section to NVQs and explains in very simple terms what they are, the benefits and so on. A key page within this section concentrates on how the qualifications are developed. It allows the user to interactively move through the life of a qualification from standards development to certification. An online glossary provides simple explanations of terms such as awarding body, NVQ and so on.

A case studies section makes the benefits of NVQs more tangible and highlights the experiences of a number of companies. An electronic newsletter, Switched On, completes the site by giving the user the very latest news from the worlds of training, aviation and commerce. As well as featuring news and articles on a range of subjects, it also includes a comprehensive listing of events.
