Jersey European Airways has announced the appointment of a new Chief Technical Officer based at its headquarters in Exeter. Robert Thomas replaces Simon Chance who is undertaking a career change.

In addition to his role as Chief Technical Officer for the Jersey European Group, Robert will also take over the position of Managing Director of Jersey European Technical Services from Simon Chance and will join the Walker Aviation board.

Robert joins the airline following six years at British Airways, latterly as Chief Engineer - Aircraft, Propulsion and Systems, and 13 years in a number of technical, commercial and senior managerial roles at Rolls-Royce (Aerospace). As well as securing major engineering contracts and developing the company's fleet rationalisation plan, Robert also created a safety management programme outsourcing and improved fleet technical dispatch reliability for British Airways.

Robert's appointment comes as Jersey European welcomes its 15 latest generation Bombardier aircraft, ordered as part of a £150 million fleet investment, and follows the airline's recent expansion at London City airport and announcement of new services for the Isle of Man and Belfast.
