Having launched DesignSpace 5.0 and ANSYS Professional last summer, ANSYS Europe informs us that it then capped an eventful year by debuting the latest version of its flagship technology, ANSYS 5.6, at the CIM show.

ANSYS is a provider of computer aided engineering (CAE) technology and its finite element analysis (FEA) package is believed to enable manufacturers to gain a leading edge by simulating complex real life behaviour in their product development processes. Currently in beta testing, ANSYS 5.6 will reportedly build on the success of the current release and provide new features in the core domain of meshing and material modelling whilst also expanding the functionality in the Multiphysics and CFD areas.

According to the company new meshing improvements have added to the ANSYS pre-processing, allowing complex parts to be meshed quickly and models to be created in quick, simple ways. Additions will also include changes to the multi-element validity checks that allow each individual customer to tailor their quality requirements.

CIM also provided many visitors with their first opportunity to see DesignSpace 5.0 and ANSYS/Professional. DesignSpace enables engineers easy access to important design performance information in Autodesk Mechanical Desktop/Solid Works/Pro Engineer/Unigraphics environments and enables them to assess how their designs will perform while working within their solid modeler.

ANSYS/Professional, on the other hand, is said to provide all the solution power that the traditional ANSYS package offers, but a newly developed graphical user interface (GUI), known as the Mechanical Toolbar, reportedly makes setting up and running an analysis as easy as using any Windows application.
