Reported to be tested and field-proven in military vehicles, ships and aircraft, the, Litton-4170 display has a backlight uniformity that is up to 20 per cent greater than available in other commercial displays. This provides clearer driver vision enhancement with greater resolution of the IR image.

The display offers multiple sensor inputs and outputs and communication options. Litton states that its compact, lightweight design andnominal power dissipation allow its successful integration into any thermal imaging system.

The Litton-4170 can function as a standard colour computer monitor and offers the ability to add options such as colour video and digital overlays. It has a 7,500 hour ground-mobile mean time between failures (MTBF). It features 256 true grey shade 8-bit data resolution and is flexible in mounting location. The Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display has an anti-reflective screen for easy reading in sunlight and at night. The positioning of the 4170's controls and its wide viewing angle of 80° add to its ease of use and enhance driver safety. The Litton-4170 has a rugged machined housing and is field-proven for severe environment applications. The display meets the US military standards for shock, vibration and high impact resistance, providing a high level of crash safety. It also operates over a wide temperature range and is water immersible.
