Steve Pickering to head new electro-optics subsidiary
Steve Pickering, who recently joined Sira from GEC Marconi to manage its Electro-optics Division, has been appointed managing director of Sira Electro-optics Ltd, following incorporation of the division's activities into a new subsidiary company within the Sira group.
Sira Electro-optics will operate with Sira's other two near-to-market businesses Image Automation Ltd and Sira Test and Certification Ltd under a new wholly-owned company, Sira Holdings Ltd. David Newman, who is already responsible for these businesses, becomes managing director of Sira Holdings Ltd.
These changes support Sira's plans to expand its electro-optical engineering business. Sira has recently announced a new project in space-based applications of hyperspectral imaging known as CHRIS and is working on several other confidential projects with key customers.
