Dowty Aerospace wins Boeing contract

Dowty Aerospace, part of the UK-based TI Group plc, has won a multi-million dollar contract to supply High Lift Systems equipment for the new Boeing 767-400ER aircraft. Dowty Aerospace's Hydraulics and Actuation business in Wolverhampton will develop and manufacture these components, which form part of the mechanism that extends the wing for take-off and landing. They include trailing-edge geared rotary actuators and the leading edge offset gear boxes.

The 400ER is a new extended-range aircraft, an increased capacity version of the highly successful Boeing 767 of which approaching 700 have been delivered to date. This addition to the 767 family was launched in 1996 and is due to enter service in mid-2000.
