Malaysia and British Aerospace sign aerospace co-operation agreement

British Aerospace plc and Kazanah Nasional Berhad of Malaysia, recently announced that they have signed a co-operation agreement to work together in the aerospace industry. It is planned that Malaysia and British Aerospace will work in partnership to develop Malaysia's capability in design and manufacture of aerospace products. This co-operation will provide Malaysia with access to aerospace technologies and will create the technical skills and intellectual property for Malaysia to compete for international aerospace work and future aircraft programmes.

Khazanah and British Aerospace together have identified a number of aircraft programmes where capability can be transferred for the design, manufacture and assembly of aerostructure components for both military and commercial aircraft.

The co-operation agreement provides for the establishment of a joint undertaking which may include investment by Khazanah in British Aerospace's wholly owned Ayro Regional jet business.
