Hi-Tec Spray adds Graco’s new range of bellows pumps to the portfolio

Article Type: New materials and equipment From: Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Volume 58, Issue 4

Surface coatings technology specialists, Hi-Tec Spray (HSL) have expanded their portfolio by the addition of Graco’s brand new range of the MERKURTM BELLOWS Pumps to replace the Orion range. The range boasts the newest technology in piston pumps currently available and incorporates:

  • improved seal design to eliminate throat seal leakage and lubrication;

  • easy changeover air motors, with ratings up to 1,800 cc;

  • longer life expectancy from improved bellows;

  • improved material flow rate with less material dwell in the pump – delivering more efficient flushing performance; and

  • pump ratios now have eight options – from 5:1 to 35:1.

With variable litre throughput at the right pressures to suit particular applications, many industries should benefit immensely from this technology upgrade which provides increased pump performance, reduced material surge on pump change over and reduced maintenance costs.

The pumps are now available as standard units or as more sophisticated DataTrak™ models offering significant benefits that include easy-to-set runaway protection, pump diagnostics for maintenance and resettable batch counter to track material usage and maintenance schedule.

The pump delivers a quality finish within a diverse range of single component applications – from catalysed coatings, through solvent and water borne materials, to general finishing applications. The user will discover its superior handling of shear-sensitive materials including UV coatings and waterborne materials, made possible by the gentle pump action and reduced sealing surfaces.

The new range of pumps also employs the more sophisticated air mix technology (air-assisted/airless spray) rather than air spray, which provides greater transfer efficiency with less waste and an outstanding finish. Utilising low pulsation with high fluid delivery output assures excellent finish quality with high material transfer efficiency and fast production rates. It is also available in an airless spray version.

For air-spray and HVLP supply applications or within circulating systems, the heavy duty GLUTTONTM BELLOWS system, which virtually eliminates the possibility of air or moisture contaminating the fluid, has been specially designed to meet the task when no other pump can handle the job (Figure 2).

Across the range, user-friendly design makes easy work of colour changeovers, maintenance and affords greater efficiency with minimum downtime.

Hi-Tec Spray Ltd supply more than application equipment and plant in isolation. They also develop a partnership with their clients to design and develop turnkey systems, where, on the one hand – individual components work well independently, and on the other – collectively fit together like a glove. They are one of few companies able to pull both sides of the industry together to deliver that total, professional solution.
