Lubrizol advanced materials introduces hammertone-finish additive for powder coatings

Article Type: New materials and equipment From: Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Volume 55, Issue 3.

Lubrizol Advanced Materials Inc. introduced the PowderAdde 9080 structuring additive for the development of hammertone finishes in powder coatings, including formulations based on polyester- TGIC, polyester/epoxy hybrids, polyester/primids, or urethanes.

The additive is reported to provide control of powder-coating structured finishes across a variety of pigmentations, with hammertone effects possible with metallic and nonmetallic pigments. The product is described as an easy-to-handle powder that is incorporated into the powder- coating premix prior to extrusion, rather than during post-add, resulting in a more homogeneous distribution of all powder coating components and a more uniform textured finish and higher reproducibility between batches, the company says.
