SNCZ sees no decline in market for strontium chromate corrosion inhibitor

Because of its excellent track record and despite the fact that it contains hexavalent chromium – a hazardous species of chromium, no imminent decline in the market is in view for strontium chromate, according to SNCZ (Societe Nouvelle de Couleurs Zinciques), a major producer based in France. On the contrary, the forecast is that the global market will continue to grow spurred by the sustained demand for the cost-effective, high-performance corrosion inhibitor used primarily in coil coatings and aerospace coatings.

The cost of manufacturing and shipping strontium chromate in compliance with strict health, safety and environmental regulations and standards has increased rapidly over recent years. According to SNCZ, the outlook is that the current situation does not warrant long-term sustainability and that the market price of strontium chromate is bound to increase in the very near future.
