are the recipients of the Journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for their paper

“Soluble salts and the durability of paint coatings: a new laboratory method for dosing chlorides and sulphates over steel surfaces”

which appeared in Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Vol. 50 No. 3, 2003

Daniel de la Fuente PhD in Chemical Sciences. He is a researcher in the Department of Materials Engineering, Degradation and Durability at the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CSIC). He has worked in the areas of atmospheric corrosion of metals, protection by organic coatings and laboratory accelerated corrosion tests. He has taken part, within the last 5 years, in 12 European, Iberoamerican and Spanish Research Projects related with his research topic. He has published more than 25 papers in the main Journals of the area and has also carried out nearly 25 communications to National and International Corrosion and Protection Congresses.

Belén Chico PhD in Chemical Sciences. She is a researcher in the Department of Materials Engineering, Degradation and Durability at the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CSIC), and for more than 10 years, she has worked in the areas of atmospheric corrosion and adhesion chemistry of paints on different metallic surfaces. She specializes in surface analysis techniques. She has published 30 research papers and some chapters of different books on corrosion and protection of metals in the atmosphere and protection by organic coatings. She has also presented nearly 25 communications to different Congresses related with her research area and has taken part in many research projects on corrosion and protection.

Manuel Morcillo is a Research Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering, Degradation and Durability, and at present, he is the director of the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CSIC). He has specialized in metallic corrosion and protection by coatings in natural environments for more than 30 years. He has written many chapters and books on corrosion and protection, he has published more than 175 papers in the main journals of the area and has carried out many presentations in different congresses and seminars. He has also organised many conferences and congresses and he was the chairman of the 15th International Corrosion Congress that was held in Granada (Spain) in 2002. He also chairs many National and International Associations related with his research area and he belongs to some Journal's Editorial Board.
