BAC announces the opening of a new branch office in Libya

Cathodic protection specialists BAC Corrosion Control Limited, based in Telford, UK, have opened a branch office in Tripoli, Libya. The premises consist of accommodation and office space to cater for the permanently based Libyan personnel.

BAC, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2004, has worked for over 30 years in the area and hope this new office will act as a centrally located service office for the Libyan market, aiding future expansion within the area. BAC offers cathodic protection products and services as well as Pin Brazing equipment and consumables to the corrosion control and railway industries.

The new branch office will be headed by Mr Michael Timms (Plate 1). Mick has spent 20 years working in the cathodic protection industry, working at various levels of hierarchy, starting as Project Engineer, progressing onto Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager, and currently as Regional Branch Manager. He has worked on various major projects around the world including the Middle East and the Far East, and with experience working on the Great Man-Made River in Libya is ideally suited to the new office's market.

The main purpose of the position, is to act as a technical support, supplying leave relief on projects undertaken by BAC and also to help concentrate on the sales and marketing activities in the area. One such job is a one million Euro project to supply specialist services and materials to work on the Great Man-Made River in Libya.

The new office will mirror the activities in the UK, offering the same services and products as the UK-based head office. Close links will be kept between the UK and Libyan offices, to ensure that the latest developments and changes to the BAC corrosion control portfolio can be offered to all markets, maintaining the excellent service already provided.
