imPress™ ST Surface Size Technology delivers superior sizing performance and excellent runnability compared to traditional surface sizes. The ease of use and high sizing development of this new technology offer the paper manufacturer the opportunity to reduce internal size addition and shift a majority of size development to the size press.

imPress™ ST products are cellulose reactive, surface sizing agents designed to impart high levels of sizing for a variety of applications. These products are low foaming, are compatible with most size press additives, and enable the paper manufacturer to change the balance between wet end and surface size addition.

imPress™ ST products are added directly to the size press run tank(s). Typical addition points include the size press starch return line, the top of the size press run tank, or the starch supply line feeding the size press run tank. With good mixing in the run tank, the size/starch solution is delivered onto the surface of the paper using either a flooded nip or a metered size press.

Compatible with most common size press starches, the imPress™ ST product can be used in conjunction with optical brightening agents (OBAs), salts, and defoamers typically used in size press applications.

Key benefits recorded from actual applications of imPress™ ST Surface Size Technology include: increased wet end flexibility; reduced chemical interference; improved cleanliness/uptime; improved runnability; optimization of retention and drainage program; improved holdout; and improved sheet quality.

imPress™ ST Surface Size Technology is generally available in the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
