International Coatings Ltd and the Marine Contracting Association, Ltd, Bermuda (Marcas) have signed a contract for the exclusive supply of dry dock coatings for over 60 vessels.

Member companies, Teekay Shipping Corporation, Vancouver, World Wide Shipping Managers Pte Ltd, Singapore, and Marenostrum Ltd, Lisbon, have allocated all of their 2003 dry dockings to International Coatings Ltd. V-Ships Group have also placed a significant proportion of their 2003 dry dockings business with International.

The contract represents over 1 million square metres on vessels typically including VLCC's, bulk carriers, container vessels, oil tankers and product carriers.

Included in the contract is a comprehensive service package professionally supported by over 400 highly trained International Coatings technical service staff, all operating within a global infrastructure ideally positioned to meet customer stock, delivery and technical support requirements.

Products selected for supply include high performance antifoulings, anticorrosives and cosmetic finishes. The antifouling package includes the unique, patented, TBT free premium copper acrylate antifouling, Intersmooth Ecoloflex SPC and the recently introduced, patented hybrid TBT free self polishing antifouling, Interswift 655.

"This deal is a landmark. For the first time global ship owners, operators and managers have contracted together for their dry dockings. The Marcas membership considered all major coatings suppliers and then subjected leading TBT free antifouling products to a rigorous third party technical audit. This independent audit included in-service performance testing and they chose International" commented Simon Parker – International's UK Marine Manager.

Mr Allan Muir, Chief Operating Officer of Marcas said: "I am very pleased that International Coatings was able to offer such a comprehensive antifouling package backed up by independently assessed technology and service levels. This contract offers our members significant benefits for the worldwide supply and application of outside shell coatings."

Mr Arvid G. Bergval, CEO of Marcas added: "International Coatings has added this dry dock contract to the existing voyage paint contract with Marcas. This contract confirms Marcas's ability to deliver leading technology products with real operational benefits and savings to our growing global customer base."
