Appointments Supervisory Board
At the Annual general meeting of shareholders held on 17 April 2003, the following changes to the supervisory board of Akzo Nobel were proposed.
At this meeting, Hilmar Kopper (67), who has served on the supervisory board for 13 years, will step down as his term of office is expiring. Mr Kopper is not available for reappointment.
It will be proposed that Uwe-Ernst Bufe (58) and Cees van Lede (60) will be appointed to the supervisory board, effective from 1 May 2003.
Dr Bufe had a long career in the chemical industry and is a former chief executive officer of Degussa A.G.
As announced a year back, Mr Van Lede will retire as chairman of the board of management, effective from 1 May 2003, and will be succeeded by Hans Wijers (52), who joined the board of management on 1 October 2002.
