UK-based energy specialist EA Technology has appointed Dr Danny Connaughton (Plate 2) to head the company's newly-created Surface Engineering Division, marketing innovative technologies to the metals and materials industries.

The move concentrates EA Technology's capabilities in new surface engineering techniques, with a team of specialists offering clients a wide range of novel solutions to make their processes more efficient and profitable.
Technologies available from the company include transverse flux induction heating of metals, surface treatments based on atmospheric plasma, electrochemical treatments such as electro-pickling and phosphating, corrosion treatment, coating, cleaning, etching, hardening and plating.
EA Technology facilities include the ability to design, test and develop new surface engineering equipment at both pilot plant and full industrial level. As business development manager for the Surface Engineering Division, Danny heads a team of scientists, engineers and technical specialists exclusively concerned with the relevant technologies.
A physicist with a doctorate in materials engineering, Danny has focused on process innovation throughout his career. He joined EA Technology five years ago after 21 years with the Atomic Energy Authority.
